There’s something about the sea air that makes ex-Londoners Anna and her husband John realise they are in a part of the country they want to call home forever. They live in a detached black weatherboarded house in Rye perched on the banks of the River Rother.Anna and John have several meetings a week up in town and say they feel their shoulders dropping when they set foot on the train that trundles them back across the eerily beautiful Romney Marsh. What’s more the couple who founded creative agency Cunning say they are living among kindred spirits. “The area seems to attract ‘creatives’, artists, writers and so on, because it’s not in the commuter belt and it’s stunningly beautiful and inspiring” says Anna. John adds “The property had been on my radar for ages. I used to drive past it all the time and knew it sat right on the river.”
